Knowledge Management – Review

Knowledge Management is defines as a deliberate approach to help organizations effectively use and reuse what they know (both tacit and explicit) to improve performance, gain efficiency, and gain/maintain a competitive advantage. KM is about people, process, and technology: people – creating a culture of collaboration; process – fusing and integrating various methods and disciplines; technology – enabling high performing organizational teams.

Workshop attendees learned:

  • Having a plan to retain the contributions and intellectual capital of valuable employees when they retire or move on to other projects/companies,
  • How a collective knowledge base enhances the ability of employees to share information in a collaborative environment,
  • How effective knowledge management programs protect revenues, improve knowledge retention, increase productivity, and promote innovation.
